Hello, my name is Kathy Moulding and I am a born and raised Canadian prairie girl.

I left the farm life to attend University after high school, where I completed my degree in Education. I taught in the public school system for a short time when I met the love of my life, and surprise, surprise, he was a farmer. Destiny had returned me to the farm life! He was a grain farmer, but it didn’t take me long to bring in the animals, as my upbringing was both in livestock and grain. Grain farming, chickens (layers and meat birds), pigs, sheep, and milk goats, along with a large garden, were what kept us busy each and every day.

It was a lot of hard work, but I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. It is the best environment to raise a family. Once the kids were teenagers and life continued to get super busy, as we both worked off the farm, we sold the animals and rented out the cropland.

Fast forward to today: We sold our farm in Saskatchewan and moved to Manitoba in 2018. We purchased 142 acres overlooking a beautiful valley. I was back to gardening and raising chickens!! (insert happy dance) When COVID-19 hit and the scare of food security was a reality, we added a Jersey milk cow to our evolving farmstead. My experience with cows was new to me; I mean, my parents had milk and beef cows when I was young, and I had a handful of dairy goats when the kids were little, but a dairy milk cow was a brand-new experience to me. I love it!! I should have had a milk cow years ago.
I truly believe that we should continue to learn something new on a regular basis, so I embraced the opportunity to make all kinds of dairy products for our household.
This probably all ties back to the “teacher” in me and the fact that people always tell me, “You should show me how to do that.” SO…..here we go! I am here to share my knowledge and skills with you. Whether you need guidance or are ready to embrace a new skill, I hope I can inspire you to take the leap and learn something new.
Here’s to helping you become your best self and live a more self-sufficient and healthier lifestyle. Trust me, once you start learning new skills that help you take control of your food supply and save money on your grocery budget, you will want to do and learn more!
